Coastal Fishing

The coast of the island of S. Miguel is particularly spectacular, remnants of a volcanic past with caves and spectacular rock deformations. The sea around this island attracts dolphins, whales and a diversity of fish species. Our fishing trips were designed to show different techniques and species of fish found in São Miguel. We offer different types of fishing: Bottom fishing, jigging and trolling.

A maximum of 4 anglers is suggested so that the skiper can pay attention to all anglers, whether they are beginners or experienced.

Before leaving, we will have a briefing to talk about the fishing location, as well as the possible species that we can fish. Any type of fisherman is welcome on board our vessel, with or without experience.

Bottom Fishing:

Bottom fishing is a deep-sea fishing technique that uses cane and reels, specific to the activity. Traditional devices with 2 or 3 hooks and with organic bait are used. The vessel is anchored in rocky or mixed bottoms at depths ranging between 20 and 150m.

Fish: daffodil; Catfish; Dogfish; Encharéu; Grouper; Mere; Snapper; Rocaz; Sargo

Zagaia Fishing / Jigging

This fishing technique uses artificial samples, which weigh between 50g and 300g. This type of fishing does not require an anchored vessel, however the boat is adrift and is carried out in places with rocky or mixed bottoms, depending on the currents and depth. The advantage of the zagaia is the capture of bottom or pelagic fish, without changing the technique, where you can catch some large specimens at depths that vary between 25 and 100m from the seabed.

Fish: Bluefish; Barracuda; Tuna fish; Encharéu; Grouper; Lily; Mere; Snapper; Rocaz; Saw.

Troll Fishing

This is a technique where the vessel is always moving slowly in coastal areas or underwater banks, where we use artificial surface samples. We usually cover areas ranging from 6m to 80m.
